Great Weather, Great Turn-Out, Great Outcome
On April 26, forty volunteers from the Ann Arbor Church of Christ provided one of Home Maintenance and Safety Services‘ (HMSS) vulnerable residents with much needed home maintenance.
The volunteers, lead by Home Maintenance/Repair Technician Tim Pieske, repaired the ramp, porch and fence, painted, trimmed bushes and cleaned up the yard. Additionally, the volunteers generously provided the stain, mulch, lumber and dumpster, relieving the homeowner of the burden of expenses.
The HMSS mission statement speaks to supporting the safety, independence and dignity of older adults. This visible action of volunteers was a prime example of the community coming together to do just that.
