The Stars Came Out

Thank You!

This year’s Cooking for a Cause exceeded all our expectations. A huge turnout, culinary masterworks at every turn, a showstopping auction and raffles—even the weather was extraordinary!

Everyone who helped, donated, attended, prepared, and prayed shone like a star that beautiful evening. A special thank you to one of the better-known stars that graced us at the lovely Frutig Farms—WDIV’s Steve Garagiola, who, along with our “straight man” auctioneer Dr. Kim Eagle,  had attendees doubled over laughing as mothers battled sons and grandfathers vied with their grandchildren for the hottest auction prizes.

But the real action was in the food tent! Our gifted competitors knocked our socks off with their offerings. Everyone was wondering the same thing—how do you choose? We assure you, it was close! And here’s what the people said:

Top Chef:

Chef Jim Leonardo
Katherine’s Catering

Runner-Up:

Chef Chris Lothamer
Barton Hills Country Club

Congratulations to both of these outstanding chefs. The competition couldn’t have been stiffer, and we couldn’t be more grateful to all the chefs, restaurant staff, and community volunteers that came and donated their time and amazing skills:

And of course, we are so thankful for our attendees who participated, bought raffle tickets, bid on auction items, and shared in the joy of making a real impact in our community. If you didn’t make it to Cooking for a Cause this year, don’t worry—it’s never too late to be one of our superstars:
