Meet our Team: Q&A with Cindy, Director of Human Resources

Meet Our Team - Cindy - HR

Meet our amazing CSSW Team!  Up next in our Q&A series is Cindy, Director of Human Resources, who has been with CSSW since 2013.

What is your role with CSSW? How long have you been with CSSW?

I am the Director of Human Resources, and I have been with CSSW since 2013 so a little over 11 years. I started as the HR assistant and worked my way up to the Director position when my predecessor left.

Share a little bit about your work.

I am currently a department of one and I manage all aspects of human resources for the organization including but not limited to recruitment, terminations, staff onboarding and offboarding, HR reporting, staff training, onboarding and offboarding of all interns, evaluations, benefit enrollment, disciplinary counseling, and all staff meetings and notifications.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love working with the staff. We have such a great group of people that work here. Each one of them adds their own touch to their departments and they all love their clients, even on the tough days. HR is not always a popular department, but I strive every day to be there for the staff and the organization. I respect them all and appreciate all that they do for our clients.

What is something that may surprise people about your work?

While Human Resources is sometimes responsible for IT in the sense of setting up passwords or education on HR software, they are rarely responsible for ordering the equipment or maintaining the reporting and troubleshooting of issues within the organization. This was something that was added to my role a few years ago when we hired our IT company. I am the IT contact for the organization.

Anything else to share?

I love being a Human Resources professional and it has been my great pleasure to work at Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County. These are great people, and they are doing great things for our clients. As I approach my retirement, (don’t worry—it’s about three years out!), I can honestly say that working here is absolutely the best way for me to end my HR career and start my next chapter.
