On Sunday, October 2, Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County (CSSW) hosted Cooking for a Cause, where chefs from local restaurants competed for the title of “Top Chef”. The over 150 event attendees voted through tips to select their favorite team, with all proceeds supporting the programs and services of CSSW.
Chefs from Frita Batidos, Gratzi, Real Seafood Company, Moveable Feast, Silvio’s, Tavolina Catering & Events, Travis Pointe Country Club, and Zingerman’s Roadhouse impressed the crowd with delectable small plates prepared on site. The grand prize went to Travis Pointe Country Club for their Oysters Rockefeller and Shrimp Shooters, with Moveable Feast’s Himalayan Hibachi Grill coming in as Runner Up. Guests also enjoyed a beer tasting provided by Wolverine State Brewing Company, a raffle, live auction and live music. The big winner of the evening was Paul Leighton, who walked away with a one-week Mexican Getaway, including $500 toward airfare from Conlin Travel.
CSSW would like to extend its gratitude to event chairs Al Mumby and Margot Devine-Mumby, as well as all of the sponsors, volunteers and guests that made this event possible. Your support raised $63,000 to improve the lives of the most vulnerable citizens in Washtenaw County.
