Dear friends,
This year it is our honor and privilege to support Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw by serving as co-chairs of their annual Cooking for a Cause. The funds raised in years past have had a significant impact on the organization’s ability to provide compassionate service to so many members of our communities.
When we agreed to co-chair the event, we had no idea that things could look so different in just a few short months. Out of an abundance of caution for guests, staff and board members, we are reworking the traditional in-person event, and instead invite you to join us on Sunday, September 13, 2020 for Cooking for a Cause — At Home!
Whether it is your immediate family or a small group of friends, we invite you to gather together to honor our shared values and raise funds for programs that are at the heart of social justice issues in our communities. With your participation, three broad program areas will benefit from Cooking for a Cause — Family and Children Services, Behavioral Health Services and Senior Services.
Families in distress come to CSSW for fostering, parenting skills and assistance with basic needs such as food and diapers. Those with chronic mental illness and substance use disorder seek support to find their path to a better life. Older adults and their caregivers seek ways to simply live with dignity at home. It is through your gifts that the CSSW staff can meet these needs with their compassionate service to others.
In the coming weeks, more exciting details regarding the adapted Cooking for a Cause event will be shared. However, the most important things will remain the same — the desire to give back, our ability to change a life, and our determination to make one more hopeful. We hope you will join us!
