National Volunteer Month: Comfort for Seniors

RachelwithblanketforwebRachel first came to The Oaks Adult Day program through her Eastern Michigan University Gerontology Service Learning class. As all student volunteers are mandated to do, Rachel created, designed, and implemented an activity with our participants. Lap quilts come in very handy, especially during this past winter. Rachel is a compassionate, thoughtful individual who has continued volunteering after her class ended in December. The Oaks Adult Day program utilizes many volunteers and appreciate the younger adults who take the time to sit and listen to one of our participants who may be having a rough day or the accomplishments a participant obtained at the bowling alley. Without our dedicated volunteers, The Oaks Adult Day would not be able to complete many of the activities we do either on a regular basis or a once-in-a-while larger scale activity. Thank you to all volunteers in all capacities. Your dedication makes the lives of others easier. For more information on The Oaks Adult Day Program, please visit their website.
